Hooking up an LCD HDTV to a DVD Recorder?
I'm trying to help my dad hook up his new DVD record to his HDTV, and we are having trouble.
The TV is a Samsung 46" 1080p flat panel - model LN-T4661F
The recorder is the Samsung DVD Upconvert/VCR Combo (obviously with the recorder feature) - model DVD-VR357
I am assuming that we just need to run the HDMI cable from the recorder to the TV, but what is confusing me is how that will allow recording from television if the cable comes through a box. I'm usually good with this stuff, but this one has me stumped.
Do I just need to run the HDMI from the recorder to the TV? Or is there more to it (specifically involving the cable box)?
Thanks.
HDMI from the DVD to the TV will take care of playback.
For recording you have two options:
a) If your set-top has i.Link , connect i.Link from set-top to i.link in the DVD recorder. This allows for digital recording.
or
b) Connect composite video out from either the TV (if available) or the set-top to the recorder.
If from the TV, you need to connect the set-top box directly to the TV.
