Can I hook these speakers to my new LCD TV?
I just found an old set of speakers someone gave me. They're small...like 4"x8" KLH Brand model 970A.
On the back it says "Recommended amplifier Power 5-40 Watts, Impendance: 4-6 Ohms AVg, Frequency Response: 90-20KHz)
They have a -black/+red cable hook up on the back like for bare wire insertion. There is no power cord ...they run off the black/red wires.
My question is: Is there some sort of adapter that would allow me to hook up these speakers to the new little LCD Samsung TV in my bedroom? It's a brand new TV so it has all the jacks....several audio outs on the side. I guess what ever plug it would be to plug into the TV would have to have the bare wire ends......
Is there a way to do this and if so would it work with these speakers? They do not have a power cord so I assume that means they're not amplified? I'm not sure.

Well what the others are saying is true, mostly. The jacks on the back of your TV are line level outputs. You could hook speakers up to them but you wouldn't hear anything. The output is too low. You need an amplifier. Receivers are basically a radio tuner, a preamplifier and a power amplifier built into one unit. An Integrated amplifier will do the job too. That's a pre amplifier and power amplifier combo. I'd recommend getting a cheap receiver or Integrated amp, eBay, Goodwill, etc and hooking up. The KLH speakers aren't bad but they are way better than the cheap speakers built into the TV.
